Newborn Sessions

I’m expecting! When do I book?

Congratulations!! I recommend booking your newborn session any time after your 20 week ultrasound, as sessions are reserved based on your due date. We will choose a tentative date ahead of time, and once your baby arrives, you will reach out and we will finalize a date that works best! For in studio sessions, I recommend coming within the first two weeks of your baby’s life, as this is when we are best able to achieve those sleepy, gently posed images. Lifestyle in home sessions are a bit more flexible since baby is not being posed, but I do recommend scheduling within the first month to capture those early days!

Newborn sessions have truly become my absolute favorite! There is just something so special about capturing those tiny, fleeting first moments. I offer two different newborn packages to fit your vision and comfort: a cozy, styled studio session or a relaxed, lifestyle in home session. If you are here reading this, it likely means you are expecting a little one, and that is such an exciting time! I would be so honored if you chose me to help capture these early days and preserve them in a natural, timeless way!

In-Home Sessions

In home sessions take place right in the comfort of your own home, creating a relaxed and meaningful experience for your family! I proudly serve Milestone, Weyburn, Regina, and surrounding areas with no mileage fee, with a small fee applying for locations outside that radius. These sessions are lifestyle focused, capturing baby, parents, and siblings in a natural and authentic way within your everyday environment.

Studio Sessions

For in studio sessions, everything you need is provided so you can simply relax and enjoy the experience! I have a full newborn client closet with beautiful outfits ready for you to choose from, along with carefully selected props like a posing beanbag, soft baby wraps, delicate headbands, and a variety of neutral blankets and textiles to create a timeless look. All you need to bring is milk! During your session, we will focus on a mix of natural, gently posed images of your baby, along with sweet family portraits with parents and siblings. The studio is designed to be a calm, cozy space where we can capture those precious little details and the joy of your growing family!

Cozy Vibes

I strive to create the coziest, most comfortable environment for your newborn session so both you and your baby can feel completely at ease. The studio space will be kept warm with a little heater that can follow your little one, and either soothing lullabies or gentle music will be played, whichever your baby prefers! Sessions are typically scheduled for 60 to 90 minutes, but there is never any rush. If your baby needs extra time for feeding, cuddling, or calming, we’ll take all the time we need to ensure a relaxed experience and capture the beautiful moments you’re dreaming of. To help your session run smoothly, I recommend trying to keep your baby awake before you arrive, as much as possible with a two-week-old, and planning a feed either right before the session or once you arrive at the studio. There is a comfortable space for nursing or bottle feeding if needed, and you will also have access to a private washroom and sitting area.

Session Style

First and foremost, you just had a baby, and the most important thing is that you feel comfortable in whatever you choose to wear! That being said, if you are looking for some guidance, I always recommend neutral, light colors. While I personally live in black and darker tones, they do not photograph quite as beautifully. Soft shades like whites, beiges, and creams are ideal for newborn sessions because they create a light and airy feel and reflect light beautifully onto your baby. Fabrics with a bit of texture or flow add a lovely touch, but there is no need to get overly fancy. I do recommend avoiding bold patterns, bright logos, or colors that may clash with the soft, neutral tones of the session. One of my favourite looks, especially in the studio, is a simple white top paired with basic denim jeans. I also suggest going barefoot for studio sessions, so do not be surprised if I ask you to take your socks off! Bare feet create such a relaxed, timeless look that photographs much more beautifully than socks, but it is always completely up to your comfort, and I promise I will not be focusing on your feet!
